We are dedicated to fostering community engagement and building resilient, informed, and participatory societies across Africa and beyond. 

We operate at the critical intersection of media, technology, and public discourse. Our mission is to equip citizens, communities, and institutions with the essential tools and knowledge they need to navigate the digital age and embrace their role in digital citizenship, allowing them to actively shape the future.

Our work is centered on three interconnected pillars that address the core challenges of our time:  

Media Literacy  

We empower individuals to become confident and critical navigators of the digital world, promoting effective digital citizenship. Our approach goes beyond theory to provide practical skills for identifying misinformation, understanding digital footprints, and engaging in online spaces responsibly, thus combating information overload.  

Technology and Society  

We investigate the real-world impact of emerging technologies, from AI and social media algorithms to new digital platforms on communities. Our goal is to ensure that technology serves the public good, fostering community engagement, and that its benefits and risks are widely understood.  

Creative Storytelling and Learning  

We believe in the power of local narratives. By amplifying voices and using creative, engaging methods, we make complex topics accessible, ensuring that the stories defining our digital age are rooted in authentic experience.

EngagedVoices is an initiative of the Tesia Isanga Organisation, founded in 2005. For nearly two decades, the organisation has been dedicated to community engagement across Kenya, focusing on poverty alleviation through various grassroots programs. 

Our long-standing work revealed a new, critical dimension to empowerment: in the 21st century, true agency requires the ability to navigate the digital world with confidence and critical thinking. To address the challenges of information overload, we launched EngagedVoices. 

Building on a legacy of trust and community service, we now prioritize digital citizenship and media literacy. We empower individuals with the skills to access information, create content responsibly, engage in public discourse, and harness technology for personal and community growth, ensuring that everyone can participate fully and safely in our connected society.

EngagedVoices is proud to continue the legacy of partnership established by our founding organisation, the Tesia Isanga Organisation.
